About the day
What is Founders Day of Giving?
Founders Day of Giving is Glenville State College’s annual single-day online fundraising event; the most recent day took place on February 19, 2020. In this event, for 24 hours, students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends helped GSC fund nearly 32 projects, raising $130,000.
Do I have to make my gift on February 19?
All gifts made now through February 19 and any gift made by sending in a Day of Giving form through June 30, 2021 will be included on Day of Giving. Feel free to make your gift early and watch the fund you are supporting reach it’s goal. You can also make a gift by phone at 304-462-6382. Once you make your gift, be sure to share it on your social media pages. Thank you for your support!
Are Day of Giving contributions tax-deductible?
Yes, your gift is tax-deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that serves as your receipt for tax purposes. If you did not receive a receipt, you can request a new one by emailing donate@glenville.edu.
I can’t make a large donation; will my small gift really make a difference?
Yes! The Day of Giving works best when everyone gives what they can. Collectively, we will support the areas of need for Glenville State College. If you want to give a larger amount, you can call 304.462.6382 or email donate@glenville.edu to set up a recurring gift. A recurring gift spreads your donation over several months.
How can I help GSC Meet the 2021 Founders Day of Giving Goal?
Founders Day of Giving is the College’s annual giving day, a 24-hour challenge to increase giving participation among the entire community. With so many loyal and caring alumni, families, employees, and friends, we can make a difference for current and future GSC students. Your involvement as a Giving Day Ambassador will help us reach our fundraising goals!
Knowing our volunteers have busy lives, we ask you to take these three simple steps below to demonstrate your pride in GSC and spread the word among your friends and networks.
Three Simple Steps
- Make your gift on February 19, 2021. If you have already made a gift this year, thank you! By making an additional gift of any size on February 19, you can help us secure essential funding for what you love most about GSC.
- Email your contacts. Email your friends and networks and ask them to join you in making a gift on Founders Day of Giving. Sample email messages and suggested timelines can be found on the Day of Giving webpage.
- Spread the word. Talk about #GSCGIVEDAY2021 on your own social media outlets. Post your own Glenville State College story on Facebook, tweet why you give, or post a selfie on Instagram using #GSCGIVEDAY2021, the campaign’s official hashtag. Share your VISION for the College on your social media and if you’re on campus, share your favorite part of GSC on a Founders Day form. You can also find sample messages to share on the Day of Giving webpage.
What are the goals of the 2021 Founders Day of Giving?
The goal is to raise $149,000 from 400 supporters on February 19. We have challenged the student body to donate “change for change”. The goal is for 200 students to participate. We also have a challenge for employees to set up a payroll deduction OR make a gift of any amount to an area they wish to support, called “dough for donuts”. Our goal is 100 employee participants.
To help you help us, we’ve created a few challenges:
- Collect 25 donations of $20.21 to raise $500 for GSC Founders Day of Giving
- Create a matching gift challenge of any amount. For example – you’ll match up to $250 from anyone who donates through the posts that you share.
- BONUS CHALLENGE: Secure gifts to total $2,021 from your network, businesses, etc.
- Call your classmates and ask them to help out. Create a video and post it online telling why you love GSC. Ask your network to help out by giving a gift of any amount.
Is it safe to make my gift online?
Yes! Our site is secure and backed by Blackbaud. If you feel more comfortable making your gift by mail, you can send your gift to the GSC Foundation, 200 High Street, Glenville, WV 26351. You may also call us at 304-462-6382
